Please note, and this is important, that prices change every month depending on their suppliers, and we will not be placing the order until May, so your order may go up and down by a bit. It is still a good estimate though.

Goats Milk Soap from 'Soap Bricks'

A new order is opening up for Goats Milk Soap. This soap has been available through all the other co-ops before but is new to us. Goats Milk Soap is very good for the skin, especially with people who have sensitive skin, eczema, etc. For more info about the value of goats milk soap, do a web search, info is everywhere.

So the Co-op in North Sydney has an order open for the 'soap bricks' available from http://soapbricks.blogspot.com/ and http://www.soapbricks.com.au/. Please have a look at their website for more information on there product.

We can order with the north co-op. These soap bricks are twice the size of a regular block of soap (ie store bought) and cost $4.70 plain, or $4.95 scented. If you choose scented, we need to specify scents desired, eg lavender, no colour, etc.

If you are interested, let me know asap as I am yet to confirm a closing date. As an aside, these are available to order quarterly.

Berries Order Complete!

The frozen berries order was completed today. If anyone would like to order more Frozen Berries, their website is www.frozberries.com.au.

There will be no more orders now until school starts at the beginning of February. If you have a suggestion on what to order next, please drop me a line. Possibilities include:

1. From a health food wholesaler, we order things like rolled oats, lentils, chickpeas, popping corn, kidney beans, cous cous etc. Whatever tickles your fancy really - there's a long list including dried fruit and nuts in bulk.
2. We also order from a biodynamic/organic mill for our wheat, flour, soup mix and other biodynamic specialty goods.
3. Organic Goat's Milk Soap is sent from a family in Queensland - which is equal to the highest quality GMS on the market at less than half the price.
4. Cheese
5. Organic Lamb

Frozen Berries

The next order for the South Co-Op will be for Frozen Berries. They also have other frozen fruits and fruit purees.

The supplier will deliver to us multiples of 10 x 1kg of the varieties of your choice. This means that if you want to arrange splits with people or are interested in only smaller amounts that we need more time to co-ordinate this. So the closing date for this order will be November 30.

Please email me what you are interested in with amounts asap and I will endeavour to co-ordinate it into packs of 10. If you are willng to go 1 or 2 bags either way, please indicate that also.

Most importantly, because of the nature of the delivery, I will have a firm date for delivery from the supplier and then I have to ask everyone to pick up as soon as possible ON THAT DAY because I don't have a big freezer to store it in, and I am sure you don't want defrosted berries.

More Honey Info

More information on the honey we get:

The honey we get through the Co-Op is raw, cold processed honey. It's spun at the only place in NSW that has a special machine that will spin the combs cold instead of the usual heated machinery and heated honey to speed up the process. This ensures none of the natural nutrients and beneficial bacteria in honey is lost. It will also candy quickly (in winter, slower in warmer months) and is suitable to store indefinitely.

If you get a tub it's best just to leave it for looooong term storage and not touch it. It'll candy and will be too hard to dig into for a top up to your honey jar. OR if you're a hard core honey user like some people, it doesn't even get to the candy stage before it's eaten. It's warm now so shouldn't candy very quickly like it can in winter. Even then leaving the tub in the sun for a couple of days runny's it up :o)

Pick up will now be at Wahroongah - details will be given. We may be able to arrange for one person to pick for the whole area for a small fee for petrol.

First Order Open

Hi everyone,

The overwhelming interest has been great, and we are finally ready to open the first order! Hooray! It will be with our main supplier, Honest to Goodness. You can check out their website here. They are suppliers of organic whole foods. The other co-ops have ordered regularly from Honest to Goodness and they are a fantastic supplier, great quality.

If you are interested in ordering from them as part of our co-op, please email me for a price list. I will send an email out shortly to all those already on the co-op membership list today.

All orders and payment need to be in by cob September 28. If you have any questions make sure you read the first post on the blog AND the rules at the bottom of the blog in order to understand the process of the order system before emailing me or leaving a comment.

Patritti Order at Co-op Stop Hills

FYI, we will be opening our first order in the co-op south in the next few weeks.

For those that are interested, there is an order open to all the co-ops at the moment with the Hills co-op. It is for The Patritti Range Of Non-Alcoholic Grape and Fruit Juices.

The closing date is the 20th of September.

We need to order a minimum of 65 cases which makes up a pallet. At the moment we have on order about 39 cases, which leaves us with 26 cases left.

They will be made up of a mixture of 2L flagons and 12 x 750ml. You can order half cartons too.

A bit of info about the Patritti range is below, if you want the price list or to make an order email me here at the blog or leave a comment in the comments field.

If you know of anyone that wants to order but hasn’t gotten around to it yet tell them not to miss out and get in their order asap.

The Patritti Range Of Non-Alcoholic Grape and Fruit Juices

Gently nurtured to retain their natural characteristics and floral bouquet.

Canada Muscat

This “boutique” variety is produced in limited batches according to availability of grapes. It has a distinctive fruity flavour fresh but not too sweet, which leaves a a pleasant lingering taste on the palate. An ideal accompaniment to fine food.

Sparkling Shiraz

Another “boutique” limited variety. A lighter red coloured juice with a refreshing full fruity flavor and a slightly sweeter taste than our traditional Dark Grape.

Co-Op Bulk Buy

Members of the LDS church have been counseled since 1976 to become self reliant and stockpile food for emergency use.

We should already have our year's supply of emergency food and 3 month store of ready to use goods (ie cans, frozen food and water). Some may find it a daunting and expensive task buying small quantities at retail prices.

SO! If you're interested in stockpiling and buying goods at wholesale prices and sharing them with your family and neighbours - get on board!

Co-op Stop is an independent project, we welcome other church and community groups.

Suppliers and products differ as to which Co-op area you're in. We endeavour to support local businesses and reduce delivery costs etc. So for example our biodynamic mill will delivery in NSW down to Sydney but no further. Though south of Sydney they have a local supplier of similar goods.

Here's a run down of who we buy from and how we order:

Suppliers:

*Organic lamb is bought whole, then cut and boxed up for us through a butcher in Annangrove. Pay a deposit and then pay the remainder on pick up.

*Organic Goat's Milk Soap is sent from a family in Queensland - which is equal to the highest quality GMS on the market at less than half the price.

*Water tubs (220 litre/44 gallon)

*Grain mills

*Organic raw bush honey (yellow box, stringy bark, salvation jane) From 1kg jar to 20kilo tubs.

Orders:

Emails are sent out to the co-op members notifying of the next purchase and payment close date, plus any special offers etc.

Most dry goods come in 5kg/25kg sizes, though you can request to split amounts with others if you wish.

When you send your order in an email, we'll reply with the total cost and bank details for you to transfer or direct deposit the amount into before the specified close date.

You will be emailed again when the goods are ready to pick up and you must collect within 2 days unless other arrangements have been made with the person accepting the delivery.

FEE: There isn't one! As areas get bigger, more co-ops open and voluntary managers assigned.

Handling is charged to cover costs only.
